Decoding Digital Challenges, Encoding Digital Intelligence

Moudy Elbayadi

Chief AI & Innovation Officer at EVOTEK

Author. Speaker. Host, Inflection Point.

Helping CEOs and boards navigate the age of Digital Intelligence.

I help CEOs, boards, and executive teams build Digital Intelligence — separating AI hype from strategic reality, and moving from experimentation to accountable deployment.

I began my career in 1998, during the .com boom — nearly 28 years on the operating side of technology, most recently as Chief Technology Officer of Shutterfly. Today, as Chief AI & Innovation Officer at EVOTEK, I sit on the other side of the table — advising boards, CEOs, CIOs, and CISOs on what AI actually changes, and what it doesn't.

The gap

Technology isn't the bottleneck. Decision-making is.

Today's leaders aren't struggling because technology is moving too slowly. They're struggling because it is moving faster than organizational judgment. That gap — between machine speed and boardroom fluency — defines the next decade. Closing it is Digital Intelligence.

Speaking & Events

Built for the room, not recycled from the last one

Board briefings, executive sessions, and keynotes on AI strategy, governance, and risk.

I don't have a single deck I reuse. Every session — a board briefing, a keynote, an executive offsite — is built around the specific business, risk profile, and board composition in the room. If it could apply to any company, it isn't ready.

What I Speak On

AI as a Dual-Use Technology

How to frame AI adoption and governance for industries that already understand dual-use risk — regulated, safety-critical, and national-security-adjacent sectors especially.

From Experimentation to Accountable Deployment

What separates organizations that get real value from AI from the ones that accumulate pilots. A practitioner's view, not an analyst's.

Board Governance for Emerging Technology

Practical oversight structures for boards that need to set risk appetite and delegate authority on AI — without becoming a technical committee.

Security in the Age of Agentic AI

What changes when AI systems don't just answer questions but take actions on a user's behalf — and what governance has to catch up to.

Format

Most engagements are a single working session — 60 to 90 minutes — built for a board or executive leadership team, with real discussion woven throughout rather than saved for a Q&A at the end. I often anchor sessions with a live demonstration rather than a slide describing what's possible.

Podcast & Dinners

Inflection Point: The Digital Intelligence Podcast

I started Inflection Point because most conversations about AI in business happen in one of two rooms: a sales pitch, or an academic panel. This is neither. It's senior technology executives, board members, founders, and investors talking the way they actually talk when the cameras and the vendors aren't in the room.

The Podcast

Conversations on how artificial intelligence is reshaping business, leadership, and competitive advantage — with the people making those decisions, not just commenting on them.

Spotify and Apple Podcasts links can be added when ready.

The Executive Dinner Series

A smaller, offline extension of the same idea: I convene senior technology leaders, directors, founders, and investors around a dinner table for a conversation that wouldn't happen on a panel. No stage, no slides — just the people closest to these decisions, talking directly to each other.

Upcoming dinner series dates and RSVP details available on request.

Writing

Books & playbooks

I write for directors and executives, not for engineers. Both works come from the same premise: you don't need to become technical to govern technology well. You need the right questions, asked at the right time.

Big Breaches: Cybersecurity Lessons for Everyone

Co-authored with Neil Daswani. A plain-language look at how the largest cybersecurity failures of the last decade actually happened — Target, Equifax, JPMorgan Chase, Marriott, and others — and the specific, avoidable decisions that let them happen. Written for anyone with oversight responsibility, not just security teams. Available on Amazon in hardcover, paperback, and Kindle.

Rewiring Boardroom Cybersecurity

An e-book playbook published by Egon Zehnder. Written for boards of directors who need a concise, practical way to improve their understanding of cybersecurity issues, build a systemic approach to strengthening their company's defenses, and prepare for potential attacks with an integrated plan — with contributions from former Egon Zehnder consultants Karena Man, Scott Texeira, Drew McFeetors, and Juan Valverde.

Advisory

Accountable seats

A small number of advisory relationships — the kind where I'm accountable for the outcome, not just present for the meeting.

In my role as Chief AI & Innovation Officer at EVOTEK, I work with some of the leading emerging technology companies as an advisor to founders and go-to-market teams — including early-stage startups navigating the shift from promising technology to a business a market will actually pay for. Founders look to me for both organizational and technological advice.

Selected companies I advise

  • Reach Security

    Founder & GTM advisory

  • Onyx Security

    Founder & GTM advisory

  • Jetstream Security

    Founder & GTM advisory

  • Oasis Security

    Founder & GTM advisory

  • Upwind

    Founder & GTM advisory

Among other startup founders building in security and AI.

How I work with founders

I don't arrive with a generic playbook. Every founder and GTM team is managing a different stage, risk profile, and go-to-market story. My job is shared fluency — organization design, technology choices, and the hard calls between product promise and paid demand.

About

On both sides of the table

About Moudy Elbayadi

I've spent my career on both sides of the table that matters most in a company: the one where decisions get made, and the one where those decisions get overseen.

On the operating side, I held executive technology leadership roles at Intuit, Active Network, and LifeLock/Symantec before becoming Chief Technology Officer of Shutterfly — leading global technology strategy, AI-powered personalization, ecommerce platforms, and cybersecurity for a multi-billion-dollar business under Apollo Global Management.

I know what it feels like to own the roadmap, defend the budget, and answer for the outcome when the board asks a hard question.

Today

I serve as Chief AI & Innovation Officer at EVOTEK. My work is helping organizations move AI from experimentation to disciplined, accountable deployment — not another framework, not another slide describing what AI could theoretically do.

I also advise founders and go-to-market teams at emerging technology companies — including security startups such as Reach Security, Onyx Security, Jetstream Security, Oasis Security, and Upwind — on both organizational design and technology decisions. And I invest personally in companies I believe in.

Why I Do This Work

Most people offering AI advice have either operated the technology or governed it from the board. I've done both — so I don't lead with hype or fear. I lead with the question that actually matters: what changes, what doesn't, and what do you need to decide right now versus revisit in a year.

That perspective also shows up in my writing and on Inflection Point — more on both further down the page.

Outside of Work

Outside of work, I'm a sailor. Hot yoga and cycling are my passions — the water, the mat, and the road are how I reset when the rest of the work is boards, strategy, and hard questions.

The short version

Former CTO. Advisor to security founders and GTM teams. Two books on technology governance. I own the decision on the operating side and the hard question on the board side.

01

Advise

I work directly with boards and executive teams — not through a deck, through the room. Strategy, governance, and risk oversight for organizations where getting AI wrong has real consequences.

02

Operate

My perspective comes from having run the function, not just studied it — owning roadmaps, budgets, and outcomes inside real operating constraints.

03

Convene

I host Inflection Point — a podcast and executive dinner series for senior technology leaders, directors, founders, and investors. The full story lives below.
